We all have met that one person at a bar that just grates on so many people that it almost becomes a joke. If you aren't familiar with being a bar regular, you can easily substitute that person for someone in your chosen hobbies or past times. Are you an avid sports fan? Then this is the guy who knows everything about your favorite team and espouses insignificant stats as if he were an employee of Sports Trackers R Us... except he is wrong nearly all the time. Generally speaking, they are nice enough people, there is just something that puts the room on edge when they enter.

I loved this book. As someone who frequented bars for years, getting to know, love, & hate my fellow townies, I find this book so relatable, nostalgic, & comforting in a way that warped time for me a bit. I can picture every scene, character, & situation so well because of the easy-going style of Rick's writing and I hope he writes more and more memoirs like this. I will most likely read this cover to cover again and again. It's something you could read in an afternoon or weekend easily or keep by your bedside & read a story at a time whenever you feel moved to. I highly recommend this book.
A collection of short stories, this book is a quick read that’ll stick with you. The stories range from sad, to funny, to outright scary, and give space for reflection on bar culture and the way alcohol shapes the world around us. The author tells stories with dark undertones with a light-hearted voice that’ll keep you on your toes. My only criticism was wishing there would’ve been more!
